A good observation place
Look carefully – do you see trout in the stream?
You can see better underwater if you wear Polaroid sunglasses!
Yeah, and they look cool too!
I can’t see a thing!
Fry are trout that have hatched in late spring in the gravel beds, where they feed and grow. The small fry will grow to a length of almost 10 centimetres during the summer.
Parr are trout that have survived over the winter in the stream. Parr feed on freshwater shrimp and insects, and they grow to a length of almost 20 centimetres by the autumn. The young fish spend their first year among the rocks along the right bank.
Smolt are trout that have survived over the second winter and reached a length of up to 30 centimetres. This is the time that the fish has to decide whether it remains in the stream or heads out to sea in search of herring. The fish that remain in the stream are ready to spawn already by the autumn.
Hi, I’m one of the locals! This is my regular hangout.
Older trout thrive in the quiet backwaters of the stream.
